About Sierra County Rock and Gem Society (SCRAGS)
Sierra Rock & Gem Society is a 501(c)3 corporation located in Sierra County, NM.
The purpose and objective of SCRAGS is to educate members and the community about local geology and to organize field trips for members to study local geology, and to serve the community by making these services available.
Regular meetings are open to the public and are held on the 1st Monday of each calendar month, unless such day falls on a legal holiday, in which case the regular meeting is held at the same time and place on the next business day. Meetings start at 6 pm and are usually held at the Geronimo Springs Museum in Truth or Consequences. See our events calendar for more information.
Monthly field trips for SCRAGS members are a great way to learn about the different types of rocks and minerals in the Sierra County area. Along the way you will learn how different types of rocks are formed, the different types of tools used to extract them, and how they are used.
